Conventional and Evolutionary Construction of Finite Mixture Models for Classification Problems in Remote Sensing (Aktion Project 29p7)

General Information

Contact person: Helmut A. Mayer

Description

This Czech-Austrian joint research project aims to combine the knowledge of the Czech partners in statistical modeling with the experience of the Austrian partners in evolutionary computation. In this follow-up project various methods to construct finite mixture models, namely, the conventional EM algorithm and evolutionary approaches are to be compared. In order to assess the performance of the differently constructed models applications to various pattern recognition problems, specifically remote sensing tasks, are to be explored.
